Harry L. Reed Jr.

Thurston, NY - Harry Reed of Thurston died Sunday April 9th at home,  peacefully, and surrounded by family.

Harry was raised in Corning, NY.  He was a paramedic with Rural Metro (Corning Ambulance/AMR) for many years, a paramedic with Mt Morris Ambulance, and a volunteer with Bath Ambulance.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to take his boat out on Seneca Lake.

He was predeceased by his mother Cora Kline and her husband John, his father Harry Reed, Sr and his sister Melissa Reed-Giffen.

He is survived by his brother Doug Reed, his daughter Tabatha Reed and her fiancee Ken Haight, his companion of many years Jennifer Gresham, his stepchildren Christian Jones, Emmaline Gresham, Elizabeth Jones, Liam Jones and Madeline (Nugget) Jones, his faithful dog Jack, and his nieces and nephews, Kyle Reed and wife Samantha, Chris Reed and fiancee Stacy Smalt, Jessie Pautz and husband Jeffrey, and Julie Reed.

Harry had many wonderful stories and lots of bad jokes. He had many friends who will miss him dearly including his mother-in-law Sarah West. He spent many mornings at Sarah's having coffee and telling those stories and jokes to Sarah, Buddy, Billy, and Ben.

Harry's family would like to thank his EMS brothers and sisters, CareFirst Hospice, and Guthrie Cancer Center for their assistance and support during his illness.

Services will be at Acly-Stover Funeral Home on Thursday, April 13th. Calling hours will be 1pm-3pm with a Fire Service at 3pm. Friends and family are invited to the Marconi Lodge on Pulteney Street in Corning,  following the Fire Service.

In Lieu of flowers please send donations to Bath Ambulance and/or the Boy Scouts Five Rivers Council.

Rural Metro (now AMR) is planning a benefit and a celebration of Harry's life to assist the family on May 6th at the North Corning Fire Department from 1pm to 6pm. Friends, acquaintances and general public are invited to attend. Tickets will be sold at the door. There will be raffles, cake wheel, and chicken BBQ. If you are not able to attend and would like to help you are invited to go to his to his go-fund-me page and donate to assist with final expenses and medical bills.
